This is the robotic toy that I would have loved to have when I was a kid. This is the robotic toy that I want now as an adult. It's not a pet, of course, but when you play with it, patting its head, or scratching its chin, and the little dinosaur purrs contentedly or tilts its head back in seeming bliss, it's hard not to believe it's alive...so I have little doubt that when it finally is for sale, it is going to set the toy industry on its ear. Consumers will be blown away by what it can do and how it behaves.

Pleo obviously appeals to just about anybody although kids and adults will get different behaviour and satisfaction from it. But you cannot deny that it's the vanguard of a whole new era of AI-style robotic pets. Moreover, Pleo breaks through the AI barrier and genuinely fools you into thinking this toy has feelings and personality.

Meeting Pleo for the first time one friend of mine commented that, although they were much too grown-up to be impressed by toys, if they’d had a Pleo as a 10-year-old Jurassic Park fan they would have been the happiest kid alive. I can certainly see kids getting a huge kick out of Pleo as well as gadget and robot enthusiasts - and any adults who are not too cynical to enjoy playing with a baby dinosaur.
